Summer ball may be over, but DCL General Manager Hayden Cooper hasn’t slowed down one bit. After moving to Dyersburg, Tennessee Cooper has stepped right into a packed schedule, taking on a key role with the Dyersburg State Community College baseball program.

He’s in charge of the infielders and helps run the offense by working with hitters, coaching first base, and assisting with recruiting the next class of players. On top of that, he runs the team’s strength program alongside another assistant coach—meaning early mornings and a lot of time in the weight room.

“Right now, I’m lifting five days a week and eating as much as I can,” Cooper joked. “We’re really just focused on getting our guys ready to play every weekend.”

Recruiting hasn’t been a big focus yet, but Hayden hopes to start spreading the word and pulling in talent from the South. For now, he’s proud of giving opportunities to local players who want a shot at summer ball.

It’s a busy offseason for Cooper, but his passion for the game and for helping players grow shows in everything he does.
